NIGHT GARDEN FOR VAR REGION VILLA

Bringing the outdoors back to life

It was great to meet Mr. and Mrs. N.! A young, enthusiastic, executive couple and their child, who wanted to enjoy their outdoor space for relaxing after a day at the office or socializing with friends. When we first met to discuss the project, they were pleasantly surprised by our holistic approach. Our experience as landscape designers guides us in our advice on garden decorations, the position of seating areas, and above all, on lighting that takes into account how your green spaces will change over time. They told us afterwards that our proactive and creative approach had convinced them to work with us. Their wish was to illuminate the entire garden. Lots of light, but don’t turn my garden into an airstrip or a copy of a street in Shenzhen, said Mr. N, which we could not agree with more. We are experts in recommending balanced lighting plans that truly enhance living spaces.

A COCKTAIL AMONG THE STARS

This decorative lighting became a trademark. The aim of the design was to create original patio lighting that doesn’t interfere with the view of the garden. These small, recessed ground marker spotlights from In-lite (Fusion 22rvs) are only 0.25w/u. We recommend approximately 1u/m2, which in this case meant 24 spots and a total of 6W. They could be combined with the larger Fusion spotlights for an even more organic effect. Enjoy cocktail parties in the privacy of your own home, surrounded by stars. We recommend a small solar lamp or USB, both available in our online shop.

SPOTLIGHT ON GREENERY

TOPIARY OLEANDERS KEEPING THE LIGHT

To illuminate these oleanders from all sides, we used 1w Miniscope lights with a colour temperature of 2900K and a CRI of 93. Real lightkeepers, these oleanders. CRI stands for Colour Rendering Index and gives an indication of how accurately natural colours are rendered (click HERE to read our article). In this case, the green of the leaves and the colour of the flowers contrasting with the monochrome colour of the fence can all be easily distinguished. The new lighting has turned the entrance of the house into a welcoming space.

PLAYING WITH DECORATIONS

FENCE AND PLANTS TURNED INTO A PAINTING

The lighting in this project was carried out with two types of outdoor led spotlights. A Luna, a 3w low voltage led spot, was the ideal choice for directing a beam onto the vertical area of the fence. To illuminate the decorative pots, we opted for a 0.8w Hyve spot. It has resulted in a creative, vibrant and rhythmic lighting scheme. The swimming pool lights completed the design for this pool area.

INTIMATE LIGHTING

A WARM BAMBOO GAZEBO

One single watt illuminates the inside of this bamboo gazebo and two watts light up the outside. A carefully integrated ceiling spotlight, invisible, always best in our opinion, and two spotlights attached to the front pillars. How great is that? Three watts to protect your privacy. Warm lighting allows you to keep an eye on things during the hot summer nights of the French Riviera and enjoy the moonlight and the magnificent view of the illuminated night garden.
